Following the restoration of law and order at the Ile Epo/Oke Odo Market after the clash among traders over the weekend, Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos West), the Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance, has called on all constituents operating in the market to maintain peace as that is the only way their economic interest can be enhanced.

The senator, who commended the security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, for their prompt response and intervention in restoring law and order to the area, stated that at this point in our nation history all Nigerians should shun issues that are disruptive of harmonious coexistence among tribes stressing that minor domestic squabbles should not be allowed to degenerate into violent ethic clashes.

Senator Adeola called on leaders of all ethnic groups in various markets in the Senatorial District to always imbibe in their members that it is only in peaceful atmosphere that their businesses can thrive adding that a cosmopolitan city like Lagos should not be allowed to descend into inter ethnic strife.

It will be recalled that a misunderstanding between an Hausa scavenger and a Yoruba street urchin snowballed into clashes that led to injuries and destruction of goods over the weekend at Ile Epo/Oke Odo Market in Lagos.

One response to “Yoruba-Hausa Clash: Senator Adeola Sues For Peace”

  1. Prince Olatoke Tajudeen Ademola says:

Thank you our Distinguished Senator, actually, in cosmopolitan city like Lagos we must equip ourselves to deal with myriad kinds of problems by learning the three basic steps of problems analysis. The three basic steps of problems analysis are:-
    1. Get the facts
    2. Analyse the facts
    3. Arrive at a decision and then act on that decision.
We really appreciate the law enforcement agent for rapid response.
However, different market leaders should educate their members on important of peace and harmony in their market. Thanks.
