Residents of Ejigbo area of Lagos were surprised after they reportedly spotted the Ejigbo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, continuously controlling traffic at Jakande Estate junction along Ejigbo/ Ikotun Road every evening in order to ease the gridlock on the road.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that for several days now, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi and her Police team had been on that road every evening preventing motorists, motorcycle and tricycle operators, who chose to drive against traffic, thereby causing horrible gridlock on the road both in the mornings and evenings for several hours.
It was not certain if it was a directive from the Commissioner of Police for her to spend several hours on the road controlling traffic. But the residents were of the opinion that the humility and passion so exhibited cannot be as a result of directive from the high authorities as what Olabisi Okuwobi had been displaying doing was total commitment for public service and desire to help humanity.
A resident, Adebowale Saliu, told P.M.EXPRESS correspondent, “I live at Jakande Estate and ply this road every morning and evening. I can only but commend the commitment of the Senior female Police officer helping with the traffic control particularly at that junction. I learnt she’s a DPO. She could have chosen to remain in her office but her involvement will surely motivate other Police officers. Things like this help change the public perception about our Police”.
P.M.EXPRESS also gathered that the action of CSP Olabisi Okuwobi has illicited commendations from the residents and has equally drawn the attention of the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Government, who was said to have indicated interest for lasting solutions on the traffic situation along Jakande Estate junction at Ejigbo.
It was gathered that the various agencies that were supposed to manage and control traffic along that axis in the evening, who had abandoned that area, were forced to come out and join the DPO in controlling traffic.
According to the residents, the commitment of CSP Okuwobi has attracted so many positives in Ejigbo in terms of development and service.
Recently, a financial institution, known as Grooming Centre, decided to construct a one-storey building office annex at Ejigbo Division having realised that the DPO, Olabisi Okuwobi, was so committed to the protection of lives and property in the area.

Some attributed her strides to her experience as the Police Public Relations officer in different states of the federation and the United Nations before she was deployed as the DPO of Ejigbo Division.
Over time, Jakande Estate junction had been known as a notorious axis, where motorists and other road users do spend several hours every day before they can get to their various homes. Some people are of the opinion that the place may not have been properly planned because vehicles coming from Isolo, Ejigbo, Ikotun and the estate meet at the junction at the same time thereby causing gridlock on daily basis.
According to the residents, the gridlock around the place worsened due to bad roads which had also affected almost every other area in the State.

Thanks a lot for this highlights.
The story on the DPO EJIGBO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi speaks for itself, as they are correct.
Those of us that knew her closely can vouch for her commitment and relentless services. She is not only committed to crime control and prevention in EJIGBO, but often noticed sensitizing the Community in ‘Policing the Community by the Community’.
Many would attest to her deliberate efforts in moving from one community meetings to the other to interact with them on the responsibility of supporting police efforts in the protection of lives and properties in EJIGBO.
Unfortunately, they had only one fairly good vehicle for these tasks.
When urgent distressed calls are put to the station, they are often seen rushing there with Okada and Keke Marwa.
This certainly is not good enough for her and Ejigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, even though she is not known to be a complainant.
But she and her dedicated officers needs to be encouraged and supported to do more.

God bless her for the wonderfull work shes doing in Ejigbo/ jakande you are lifted up already.
We still need to remove those police at power line junction early morning using area boy to collect money from bus, the most annoying parts is they stop private cars to make hold up so they get what they want. If they can learn from their DPO am sure one day they will get to the up to served Nigeria is not by force so thy should not use their own to spoil uniform org.

I have known her for sometime now. On every occasion that I had interactions with her, she has always displayed professionalism and total commitment to her profession. All I can say is may God Almighty grant her many more useful years to humanity
