The organisers of the first-ever Nigerian Swedish International Agricultural Trade Fair have postponed the event.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the maiden trade fair, which had earlier been scheduled to hold from 29-30 October  in Brahegatan 11, Gamlestaden, Gothenburg, Sweden, has now been shifted to 26-28 November, 2019.

The  Nigerian Swedish International Agricultural Trade Fair is being organized by the Nigerian Swedish Trade Fair (NSTF) Group with Green Light International Organization (Glios), Sweden in conjunction with the Nigerian Embassy, Stockholm and Fesco Agalu Nigeria Limited, organiser of Agritech Nigeria, an international agro-technology exhibition and conference in Africa.

According to the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigerian Swedish Trade Group, Mrs. Mary Brakner, the decision to postpone the event by a month, though painful, is still in the best interest of ensuring that a befitting trade fair is organized.

P.M. EXPRESS was told that the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria has been communicated immediately the decision to postpone was reached Friday evening.

According to Mrs. Brakner, two major reasons called for the postponement of the trade fair, which include the “inability to procure visas by our expected government delegation, exhibitors and trade visitors who are coming to the event from Nigeria and other parts of Africa due to the time they submitted their Shengen visa application forms and the  time we had earlier scheduled to hold our event next week. We discovered that the time is so short for the process of visas by the Sweden Embassy in Nigeria.

“And more importantly, we believe organising a befitting first edition of Nigerian Swedish International Agricultural Trade Fair is very important because we hold it a national duty as patriotic citizens of Sweden and Nigeria to ensure that we do everything within our power and resources to promote the existing economic bilateral relationship between our countries Nigeria and Sweden.

“There is no doubt that the postponement will affect a lot of things we have put in place and most especially the Embassy of Sweden in Abuja. We have sent a formal letter to the Embassy Friday evening to inform the Ambassador of these new dates. We have also opened our registration portal to give some participants in Nigeria and other West African countries who have been putting pressure on us to give them the opportunity to be part of this great show,” Mrs, Brakner said.

The Nigerian Swedish International Agricultural Trade Fair has received support from notable companies across the world. These include  Oge Pride of Sweden, NFKF Union Gõthenburg, Glios Org, Royal Air Maroc, Ria Money Transfer, Apple Hotel Gothenburg, Lanyem Media production,  Honey Brook Denmark and Scandavania Baltic.

NSTF Group is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization established which have roots in Africa – Nigeria.

NSTF Group facilitates empowerment of the smallholder farmers in Africa to increase their productivity and hence play a major role in combating the global food insecurity problem.
