Police Bust Robbery Syndicate For Snatching Vehicles & Selling As Spare Parts

Police operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, have busted and arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate, who specialized in snatching vehicles, dismantling them and selling to traders at the popular Mgbuka Spare Parts market in Onitsha area of Anambra State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police also arrested three of the suspects, recovered a Barreta pistol, three live ammunition of .9mm and engine of a car snatched at gunpoint.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Haruna Mohammed. He stated that the suspects were in police custody including the exhibits.He said that on 5/5/2020 at about 11:30am following intelligence report, Police operatives attached to the Command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested at different locations within Nkpor axis the following members of the syndicate:(i) Emeka Onyeoma ‘m’ aged 23 years, (ii) Chidiebele Amaluaka ‘m’ aged 22 years and,(iii) Ezenwaokolo Ikechukwu ‘m’ aged 20 years and the receiver of the stolen items, Abuchi James respectively.SP Mohammed explained that the suspects had on 24/2/2020 at about 2:30pm allegedly lured one Pastor Uche Iheme ‘m’ aged 41 years of Awomama, Imo State, to a location behind First Bank, Oyeolisa Ogidi and snatched his Toyota RAV4 car with registration number GRE 170 AA, Samsung J4 phone valued #82,000 and cash sum of Five thousand($5000) US Dollars.The suspects equally shot the victim on his left limb and fled leaving him unconscious in the pool of his blood but was later rescued and rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.The matter was reported to the Police who moved into action and it paid off.Mohammed said discrete investigation led to the arrest of their receiver one Abuchi James ‘m’ aged about 30 years at Mgbuka Obosi Spare parts market where the snatched vehicle was completely dismantled and sold out but the engine was recovered.He said that the exhibits recovered from the suspects include one barreta pistol with three rounds of .9mm ammunition as well as the engine of the snatched vehicle. 
He said that the case is under investigation after which the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.
