Road To MAMA Hits Lagos Hard Rock Cafe

With just six weeks to go until Johannesburg, South Africa play host to the crème of Africa’s music scene at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMA, a dazzling line-up of artistes is set to headline Lagos’ annual Road to MAMA party.

The pre-award gig will be taking place at the posh hangout, Hard Rock Cafe, Oniru, Lagos on Sunday 2 October.

Headlining the gig is 2015 MAMA Best New Act and Reggae-dancehall star Patoranking. The young singer wowed Durban music fans at last year’s spectacular MAMA ceremony.

Patoranking will be joined by Hip-hop freshman Nasty C who is also set to heat up the MAMA main stage in Johannesburg, and another fast-rising Hip-hop star Ycee, who has also been confirmed to perform at the show.

Other Nigerian stars showcasing their talents at the gig to complete the line-up are Skales, Runtown, Koker and songbird Simi.

There will be added excitement at this year’s gig, as MTV Base will be revealing nominees in seven different MAMA categories, including Best Female, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Rounding out the evening with some hot deck action will be DJs Xclusive, Humility, Kaywise, Hazan and Ttb.

Highlights of Road to MAMA – Lagos will air on MTV Base in October 2016.

The MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 is packaged by Joburg Tourism in partnership with Absolut Vodka and Google, and in association with DStv and MTN.
