SWS Hails Deborah Ijadele-Adetona After Global Woman Of Influence Honour

*Society celebrates Founder, National President for taking women’s advocacy to global stage

The Standup for Women Society (SWS) has celebrated its Founder and National President, Barrister Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, after she was recognised as a “Global Woman of Influence” at a prestigious award ceremony in Singapore.

Ijadele-Adetona received the international recognition at the ceremony held on September 19, 2026, an honour the Society described as a testament to her years of advocacy, leadership and commitment to improving the lives of women and girls.

In a congratulatory statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity and Communication, SWS said the award was a fitting recognition of the National President’s sustained efforts to champion the rights and welfare of women, vulnerable persons and the voiceless.

The Society said Ijadele-Adetona had transformed SWS from an idea into an increasingly influential movement dedicated to empowering women and girls across Nigeria and in the Diaspora.

According to the statement, her leadership has inspired members to stand up for justice, demonstrate compassion and speak out for women and girls facing vulnerability and social injustice.

“Your life daily inspires us to be bold, to be compassionate, to stand for justice, and to be a voice for the vulnerable women and girls in our society and the nation at large,” SWS said.

The organisation said the international recognition had brought pride to Nigeria and the entire SWS family.

“Ma, you have made Nigeria proud. You have made every SWS woman proud. You have made womanhood proud,” the statement said.

SWS further expressed optimism that the global honour would provide Ijadele-Adetona with wider opportunities to extend her advocacy and humanitarian work beyond Nigeria.

The Society prayed that the award would mark the beginning of more international recognitions and greater platforms for the SWS Founder to continue her contribution to the advancement of women, girls and humanity.

The National Executives, State Chapters and members of SWS across Nigeria and in the Diaspora subsequently joined in celebrating Ijadele-Adetona, describing the recognition as a significant milestone in her leadership journey.

“Congratulations to our Global Icon!” the Society declared.
