APGA Gubernatorial Primaries 2021: Qualities That Will Determine APGA Flag Bearer

Posted on February 27, 2021

Ahead of the Anambra State All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Governorship primaries, some leaders and critical stakeholders of the party have called for the election of an aspirant with a track record of integrity, compassion, and empathy for the common man to be nominated as the next Governor of the state.

‎An APGA stalwart, highly influential politician and former Coordinator of Gov. Willie Obiano’s re-election Support Group Ihiala Federal Constituency, Chief Mike Igweze, urged the party faithful to elect an aspirant with high integrity that can unite the party for the progress and development of the state.

Speaking in Awka, Igweze observed that the three frontline Governorship aspirants seeking to succeed Governor Willie Obiano are eminently qualified to even aspire to the highest political office in the country, but warned that the APGA must not make the mistake to hand the party’s Governorship ticket to an aspirant that does not have the interest of the party at heart.

He listed the frontline Governorship aspirants of the party as Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, and Rt.Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji.
“Well, I am happy that our amiable Governor and party leaders have no anointed aspirant. Some  people attempted to convince the party leaders to adopt a consensus candidate, but couldn’t scale the goal post” Igweze said.

“We have three viable Governorship aspirants of which are Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, and Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji.”

“Incidentally, they are all my friends and I will tell you that all of them are well qualified to be Governor of Anambra. As a key stakeholder of the party in Ihiala, my role is to see how the best aspirant emerges as the party flag bearer”
“All the aspirants are good. Imagine an aspirant like Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo; he has affected the lives of so many people positively, he has shown that he is a patriot.”
“I believe that God will lead us to choose the best among the three and also pray God to grant all the other aspirants maturity and Godliness to learn to give up for another because if all of them go the way we went in 2019 general elections, we may see smear campaign against one another.”

“For the quality of the various aspirants, I’m glad that Chief Willie Obiano’s administration has done marvelous job towards  ensuring the party is not divided and he has led with so much love for ndi Anambra, the APGA Stalwart said.

‎On his part, Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters, Hon. Ifeatu Obiokoye, has warned all Gubernatorial aspirants of APGA extraction to avoid using vulgar language against one another.

“The APGA-led State Government under Governor Willie Obiano has given the party a facelift such that APGA is on the lips of every onye-Anambra and it would be difficult for the opposition to uproot APGA.”
“So, rather than vilify one another, it is of paramount importance to state unequivocally that all aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, should concentrate their campaigns on what they will do differently to take Anambra State to the next level of development and growth.”
“The forthcoming November 6 Governorship election is a must-win for APGA; this should be uppermost in the minds of every aspirant. As it is often said, in every contest there is a winner and a loser as well. As the party promises a free, fair, transparent and credible primary election, anyone who eventually clinches the party’s ticket, should bear in mind that APGA is the party to beat.”
“I, therefore, enjoin all aspirants to apply caution and restraint in their utterances as they go about their electioneering activities bearing in mind that the ultimate goal is a victory for the All Progressives Grand Alliance come November 6, 2021.” Obiokoye said

Meanwhile, the Media and Publicity Director of Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo Governorship Campaign Organization, Dr Harris Chuma, has enjoined all APGA delegates to beam searchlights towards Nwankpo as a better option to consolidate on Gov Willie Obiano’s gigantic achievements.

‎”Another key factor in determining who gets the ticket again is compassion; you can have integrity but no compassion. You can be a productive person on earth but when you seek public elective positions you need to have compassion and empathize, hear, smell and touch. If you cannot do that, you don’t have business being in public office because at the end of it all if you cannot combine them and put smiles on people faces, you have failed. APGA delegates for the Gubernatorial primaries 2021 should give Nwankpo a positive nod to lead the party to the polls.”

“Nwankpo’s mission is to uplift the living standard of the people because this is something he has done in the past.He said people call him ‘Oputa Ifeadi because of his Integrity not because of his wealth’, but he is more interested in how to impact on the lives of the people and this is in consonance with what he has done in the past and that is why he is seeking to serve as Governor.”

“In his community where he grew up, Nwankpo was propelled to build skills acquisition centres, water and electrification projects, supported many churches on infrastructural projects, rehabilitated schools, offered scholarships to hundreds of students in and outside his localities, carried out roads construction projects, and provided healthcare services to his people, most especially the indigents old people, all from his personal pocket. In fact,  Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo hates to see the aged people in our society suffer untoward hardship, he would promptly intervene and sort things out,” Chuma disclosed
