Police Foil Attempts To Burn INEC Office In Enugu

Police operatives from the Enugu State Command have foiled and resisted an attempts to burn down Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office by hoodlums in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS confirmed this from the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwu.
He explained that the yet to be identified armed miscreants on 16th May, 2021, at about 2030hrs attempted to set the Enugu Headquarters of the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) office ablaze.
However, the prompt intervention and response by joint security operatives, who swiftly mobilized to the scene, foiled the attempt.
ASP Ndukwu stated that the bandits had already set fire on the building but the State Fire Service personnel, who promptly responded to calls put across to them, helped in quenching fire already set on four (4) vehicles and two (2) cushions within the office premises.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, who immediately raced to the scene alongside Heads of other Security Agencies in the State, ordered the placement of adequate security within the premises of the office and the launch of a full-scale investigation to unravel the mystery behind the act as well as fish out the assailants.
The Police boss enjoins law-abiding citizens of the State to remain vigilant and promptly volunteer useful information that will help the Police in the investigation.
