The Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has expressed its commitment to continue offering complementary services for all programmes of the State Government.

Addressing a Press Conference at the association’s Secretariat, in Ikeja, to kick-start a celebration of week-long activities, its President, Dr. Femi Olugbile said the body will always make results of its government policy appraisals available to the State Government.

Dr. Olugbile noted that ALARHOSPS does not intend to run a shadow government by taking its views to the public domain but remains committed to its policy advisory role.

Declaring that the Y2021 Association Week, with the theme “Celebrating Past and Present with Focus on the Future”, is aimed at celebrating members and acknowledging those who have passed away, the ALARHOSPS President said that the occasion will also be used to give back to the community.

He noted that activities planned for the week include initiatives that would reflect the broad sweep of the mission of the body, ranging from religious observance to propagating the need for exercise and fitness for all, including senior citizens.

“The event, which kicked off with a press conference, will be followed by Jumat Service on Friday, 24th September, at the State Secretariat Central Mosque, Ikeja”, Olugbile said.

He disclosed that there will also be a Health Walk at 8:00a.m on Saturday, 25th September, from Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park to Oregun Junction and back.

According to Dr. Olugbile, a Health Talk and Games will also be held at the park, while a Thanksgiving Service is scheduled for Sunday, 26th September, at Chapel of Christ the Light, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja.

The President said, “During the week-long programme, a rehabilitated Primary Health Centre in Kosofe Local Government Area, Ajegunle, will be handed over on Tuesday 28th September. There will also be donations of materials to Rehabilitation and Correctional Centres in Majidun, as well as a Vocational Centre for People Living with Disabilities in Owutu, Ikorodu Local Government Area”.

Calling on all residents to identify with the efforts of the association and contribute to the public good, Olugbile stated that departed members of the association will be honoured at a get together scheduled for Thursday, 30th September 2021, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Secretariat starting from 11.00am.

ALARSHOSPS was formed to serve as a platform for continuous interaction and pursuit of common welfare interests of retirees, who served Lagos State meritoriously and rose to the apogee of the career ladder in the State Civil Service.
