Peter Obi Retires From Politics – Says Anambra PDP Made A Mistake In The Nomination Of Azuka Enemuo As Ozigbo’s Deputy

Posted on September 24, 2021

The remarks of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 Vice Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, at Idemili South Local Government rally yesterday has continued to elicit mixed reactions from the people.

Mr. Obi had stated publicly that the duties and responsibilities of governance cannot be committed to persons who are 63years old. Citing that he became Governor much earlier and his success in office can be attributed solely to his youthful strength, Obi canvassed that persons like him who are 60years and above have no business holding any leadership position both now and in the future.

In line with Obi’s new thesis, the PDP has made a fundamental error in the nomination of a 63-year old Azuka Enemuo, who would turn 64 by 2022 when the next administration is expected to kick off. In the same vein, Mr. Obi has thrown his Presidential ambition under the train stating that if 63 year olds lack the strength and virility to govern a State like Anambra with a population of about 7million persons, it would be suicidal, in Obi’s contemplation, for people of such age to think of leading an estimated population of 210million persons in Nigeria.

Currently, Obi is 60years old and would be 62 by 2023 when the Presidential election will take place. What is, however, not known is if Obi would unashamedly disclaim his words as he is wont to in recent times.
