Federation Elections 2021: Oshodi Makes History, Emerges Nigeria Judo Federation President

Expectedly, former vice president of the Nigeria Judo Federation, NJF, Dr. Musa Oshodi has emerged as the president of the federation.

Oshodi who is the chairman of the Oyo State Judo Association lorded it over Brigadier General Zachary Abubakar12-0 in the elections held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Thursday.

Evangelist Loveth Howell representing the South-South zone emerged as the Vice president as she had no opponent.

With the victory, Dr. Oshodi made history as the first judoka ever to head the federation.

While speaking with Sports journalists, Oshodi said his dream is to rebrand Nigeria judo and change the current narrative.

The new president who lauded the Sports Ministry for conducting credible elections, 

said “My dream is to rebrand Nigeria Judo and change its present narrative. Nigeria at a time was a powerhouse on the continent. But not anymore”.

Oshodi said he was excited at the quality of the men and women on the board adding that “with such men and women, the judo rebirth has just started.

Board member, Mrs. Bola Tijani said her mission on the board was to encourage more girls to take to judo.

“I will develop different programmes to encourage more women to take to judo. Right now the number of female judokas is not encouraging. I will change all that”.

She said she was excited being on the same board with Oshodi who she described as her coach and mentor.

“It’s a dream come true”, she enthused.
