Senator Magnus Abe has taken charge at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), pledging robust oversight and institutional reforms to strengthen the agency’s performance.
Abe said the board is committed to ensuring the Commission operates at full capacity in line with its statutory mandate. He also revealed plans to improve staff working conditions, including securing a more suitable office environment to boost productivity and efficiency.
In her remarks, the Commission’s Chief Executive, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, congratulated the new board and expressed confidence in their ability to provide strategic direction under the Petroleum Industry Act. She noted that their inauguration comes at a critical time, as rising global oil prices driven by tensions in the Middle East demand focused and effective leadership.
Observers say Abe’s resumption signals a renewed push for stronger governance, collaboration, and institutional strengthening within the NUPRC.
