Abia State Govt Set To Commission Omenuko Bridge & Honour Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd) 

According to the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the day’s activities will commence with the historic commissioning of the Igwu River Bridge, popularly known as the Omenuko Bridge, a critical infrastructure project that reinforces the administration’s unwavering commitment to rural connectivity, economic revitalization, and inclusive development.

The commissioning ceremony will be held on Friday ,13th February at the Bridge site  by 10:00am.

Following the commissioning, a Grand Civic Reception will be held in honour of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, at Ozu Abam in recognition of his transformative leadership and developmental strides across Abia State.
The venue of the civic reception is Abam High School,Ozu Abam and time is 11:00am.

The Governor will thereafter proceed to Umuahia to participate in a distinguished lecture and reception organized by the state government to mark the 70th birthday celebration of an eminent elder statesman and former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Onyeabor Ihejirika (Rtd.) CFR.

The celebrant, a highly respected military officer and patriot, devoted decades of meritorious service to the Nigerian Army and the nation. His years of disciplined leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to national unity have left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s military history and public service landscape.

These events collectively reflect a celebration of progress, leadership, and service — honouring both infrastructural achievement and exemplary national contribution.

Traditional rulers, Religious leaders, Government Appointees from  Arochukwu Local Government Area and adjoining Local Government Areas, Labour Party and Abia Arise faithfuls are cordially invited to participate in these historic engagements.
