All Africa Games: Gumel Optimistic, As Mayor Welcomes Team Nigeria To Games Village

Engineer Habu Gumel, President, Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, has expressed confidence in the ability of Nigeria topping the overall medals table at the end of the 12th All Africa Games, Rabat, Morocco.
Speaking during the welcome ceremony of Nigeria’s contingents to the Games Village, Gumel charged the athletes to be of good ambassadors of the country. While thanking the government of Morocco for welcoming the team, he stated that Nigeria has a good working relationship with the Moroccan government, assuring that Nigeria is here to win the games and win it clean.
“We are here to win the games, as you can see Morocco is our home, definitely we will win. I want to warn that every athletes must stay away from what can tarnish the image of the country,” said Gumel, who is also a member of International Olympic Committee.
The Nigeria contingent were admitted to the games village in a colourful ceremony on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco. The contingent about 300 were welcome by Youssef Oliewzar, the Mayor of the African Games Village.
He thanked the Nigerian government for releasing the athletes to participate in the games and welcome everyone as the country green-white-green was hoisted
