Again Ageless Bash Ali Passes Fitness Test, Says He’s Ever Ready For GWR Fight

World Boxing Federation (WBF) cruiserweight champion, Nigeria’s Bashiru Lawrence Ali, OON, has again proved his critics wrong concerning his medical fitness as he campaigns for the actualisation of the Guinness Book of World Record Boxing Championship which is scheduled for Nigeria very soon.

Many have thought that at 63 years, Ali, who is fondly called Bash Ali by his teeming admirers, won’t be medically fit to actualise his dream of stepping on the ring and break the record as the oldest man on earth to enter a boxing ring to fight for a world title, surprisingly however, the Edo State-born pugilist was at the National Hospital, Abuja on Thursday where he was at the department of chemical pathology to undergo a comprehensive test on his body.

The world champion, who was 63 years, eight months 23 days as at the time of the test, came out with a clean bill of health.

An elated Bash Ali said after the test, “today, I was again tested from the hairs on my head to the nails on my toes and was given a clean bill of health. Despite not eating for weeks and feeding on groundnuts and plenty coca cola only on a daily basis, my fasting blood glucose sugar level is excellent. Most boxers in their 40’s always fail this test and lose their licence to box and here I am in my 60’s and doing what is consider a NO NO in the medical field and still coming out in flying colours. I am truly an extraordinary human being. One million gbosas for me….lol.”

P.M. EXPRESS recalled that early this year, Bash Ali also undergone a comprehensive medical test before he could renew his licence with the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), a test which he passed. These are being done as he look forward to the historic fight of the Guinness Book of World Record Boxing Championship, which is receiving special attention of Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
