Ahead National Youth Games: Team Lagos Ready For Zonal Elimination Contests In Ibadan

Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) will today (Tuesday) conduct screening exercise for its team sports athletes ahead of the participation in the  National Youth Games Southwest Zonal Elimination Championship holding in Ilaji Stadium, Akanran, Ibadan, Oyo State.

A notice has been sent to all stakeholders involved to prepare for the exercise scheduled for 10am at the Mobolaji Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.

The team sports involved include Football, Basketball, Cricket, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball and Abula for both the male and female teams.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that the southwest elimination games involving Lagos, Oyo, Ogundele, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states, will be held from 29 to 31 August 2024 in Ibadan ahead of the National Youth Games holding in Asaba, Delta State from 9-19 September 2024.

It would be recalled that Team Lagos were outstanding in the zonal elimination contests held last year in Ibadan after they secured tickets in 13 sports out of 18 sports in contention.

Team Lagos clinched the first positions in the male and female events of both rugby and baseball and softball, the first position in handball (male), hockey (female), football (female), and cricket (male)., while the state picked second positions in male football event, basketball (male), volleyball (male and female) and beach volleyball (female).
