The Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Osamaye Bosede, has condemned in strong terms cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), stressing that the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will not tolerate such heinous acts.

She made this call at the Ministry’s headquarters on Thursday, 4th September, 2025, when a case of three-year old girl being violated by a neighbour was reported to the Ministry late in the evening of Thursday.

Reacting to the outrageous incident, Dr Osamaye emphasised that Ondo State remains committed to creating a safe and just society for all, particularly women and children, who are most vulnerable to abuse and that the perpetrator will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

She further appealed to mothers, guardians, and caregivers to pay close attention to their children, monitor their movements, and maintain open communication to detect early warning signs of abuse. In her words, there are pedophile everywhere, do not trust your children with anyone.

“Gender-Based Violence is a crime against humanity and a gross violation of human rights. In Ondo State, we will ensure that perpetrators are not spared. Strict legal consequences await violators, and the law will take its full course without compromise,” Dr. Osamaye declared.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Ministry is working closely with security agencies, community leaders, and civil society organizations to intensify awareness, strengthen reporting mechanisms, and provide support systems for survivors.

She particularly thanked the staff of the ministry, the Deputy Director Women, Mr. Igbekun, The SA to the Commissioner, Mr. Akindele Ibukun and the Executive Secretary of the OSAA-GBV, Barr Afolabi, who swiftly took up the case to ensure justice is served.

She concluded by calling for collective vigilance and community responsibility to eradicate GBV, assuring residents that the Ministry will continue to drive policies and initiatives that protect the dignity of every citizen, especially women and children.
