A business mogul and Managing Director, Fedan Investment Limited, Mr. Stephen Amaechi Chinemelem has donated sets of security equipment worth millions of Naira to the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the items  donated were delivered to the Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday.

The items included torch lights, power banks, electrical sockets, battery chargers and other items and were received by DC (Operations) for the State Command.

Mr. Chinemelem had also donated a Toyota Hilux van to the Police at Ojo Division and embarked on painting some police stations under the Lagos State Command to provide an enabling environment for the police to perform their duties.

While donating the items, Chinemelem said he did so on behalf of his companies to assist the Nigerian Police especially the Lagos Command to enhance their performances on the task of protecting lives and properties in the State. He noted that the present CP, Mr. Edgal has performed creditably well since he took over as the police boss and there was every need to support him.

He assured that he will continue to support the police and urged other well meaning Nigerians to follow the path, as the government cannot provide all the necessary tools the officers would need to perform their duties. He said he will extend the gesture to the zonal level and across the commands in Nigeria.

Mr. Chinemelem was accompanied to the Command by the leadership of Igbo Buru Otu led by their President, Chief Chika C. Nwokedi and other executive members. Chief Nwokedi commended Mr. Chinemelem for the gesture to the Police and enjoined other members of the public to do so.

He said that the police had been doing well and there was need to give them the support and encourage them to perform effectively. He noted that the crime rate had reduced drastically and said it was the efforts of the officers led by CP Edgal that made it possible.

Chief Nwokedi said that his group will continue to support the police and they had embarked on assessment visits round the police divisions in order to identify their needs and mobilise well meaning Nigerians to assist them to enhance their performances.
