All Roads Lead To Alimosho For Igbo Day Celebration On Saturday

All roads in Lagos on Saturday 27th November, 2021, will lead to Alimosho Local Government Area for the Igbo Day celebration and New Yam festival as dignitaries from within and outside Lagos State have already started arriving for the epoch making event.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event will be held at the palace of Ezendigbo, Alimosho, Eze (Dr) Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, located at 28 Popoola Street, Ikotun, Lagos, as Chief Host while his amiable wife, Ugoeze Udoamaka Eze and Chief (Mrs) Margaret Peter Obi are the Mothers of the day.

Other top personalties that will attend the epoch event include Major General Elvis Njoku, the Chairman of NURTW, Lagos State, Alhaji Musliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as Chief Special Guest of Honour while the Executive Chairman of Igando/ Ikotun LGA, Comrade, Lasis Akinsanya, Hon. Kehinde Joseph and Chief Joe Igbokwe are Special Guests of honour under the chairmanship of Chief Dozie Okafor (Omereora Ndigbo). 
Other guests are Chief Sunny Akpaoyibo, Etien David, Onyemaobi Nwokolo (Dino World) Ambassordor Cyril Ezewele, Chief Emma Offordile, Samson Adebayo, Jude Obiora, who will be honoured on that for their contributions for the development of the society.

Other Igbo stakeholders that will attend the event also include, Eze Hycient Ohazuruike, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, Eze Uche Dimgba, Eze Chris Offia, Chief Chris Ekwilo, Chief John Uche and Eze (Dr) John Nwosu.
Others include Chief Solomon Ogbonna, Chief Jonathan Nnaji, Chief Oliver Akubueze, Chief Anselm Njoku, Eze Anthony Elui and many others.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of Council of traditional rulers in Alimosho, Eze Lawrence Eze, who further stated the chairmen of the six Local Governments and top Lagos State Government officials will grace the occasion to build more synergies with other ethnic groups in the state being organized by the Igbo Community in Alimosho under his leadership.

Eze Lawrence, who was former Board member of the Federal Medical Centre and holds the title Agunabo in Awka town,  Anambra State, stated the significance of the New Yam festival to Ndigbo, which is the reason it is being celebrated by the Igbo people all over the world.

He stated that the festival has its origin from the forefathers of Ndigbo, who sustained eating yam in the time of lack and maintained yam as the chief crop for Igbo people.
He explained that the event will also be used to thank God for His mercy and protection and then take stock of various activities during the year.
Eze explained that during the celebration, the period will be used to recognize and honour Igbo sons and daughters including friends, who have distinguished themselves in various fields and there will be display of Igbo rich cultural heritage such as masquerades, dance groups and others.
