Allow Sanwo-Olu Pick His Cabinet, Group Urges Lagos Assembly

Posted on August 27, 2023

A socio-political group in the fore front of equitable governance and socio political development in Nigeria, Team Nigeria for Change, has implored the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to allow Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu pick the men and women he believes can help him consolidate his second term in office as the governor of Lagos State.

The President of the group, Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo made this known over the weekend.

According to Nze-Jumbo, the fact that the governor and his team were able to secure a second term in office on the strength of his outstanding performance is enough pointers to the fact that he knows what he is doing and can assemble the men and women who can help him actualize his dreams and vision for the state.

He further stated that the decision by the Lagos State House of Assembly to drop 17 out of the 39 names of commissioners nominees sent to it by the governor doesn’t seem right and many are already reading political vendetta into it.

Speaking further, the Group leader stated that the governor and the leadership and majority of the members of the House are members of the ruling party and whatever may have been the point of disagreement ought to have been resolved within the party rather than become a subject of public debate.

Recall that the Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa led Lagos State House of Assembly had on Thursday, August 23, 2023 rejected 17 names from the list of 39 commissioners nominees sent to it by the state governor.
