Alor Primary Health Centre Upgraded To General Hospital

The Anambra State Government has approved the upgrading of the Primary Health Centre, Alor, Idemili North Local Government Area, into a full General Hospital.
This was made known when the Honourable Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Vincent Okpala, attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of an ultramodern general out-patient department (GOPD) and theatre complex in the community.
Dr. Okpala expressed happiness that because peace and security prevail in the state, well-meaning individuals now come home to develop their communities in different ways.
He appreciated the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe MacAnthony Chinedu Okonkwo, for his purposeful and visionary leadership in the community which have translated into the unprecedented development being witnessed at all the corners of the community.
The Health Commissioner used the opportunity to remind the people of the great policies of government in the health sector which includes the Health Insurance Scheme and harped on the need for people to get enrolled with only N12,000 a year and enjoy all the packages covered under the programme.
Dr. Okpala further highlighted that Anambra State is currently ranked second in the country for its preparedness to access the national primary healthcare funds being provided by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Furthermore, he attributed the successes in the health sector to the deliberate efforts of Gov. Willie Obiano in improving the health conditions of ndi Anambra.
Earlier in his opening remark, the traditional ruler of Alor Kingdom, His Royal Highness Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo, noted that his joy knows no bound as some young indigenes of the town chose to do such a huge project for the community.
He thanked the commissioner for representing the Governor at the occasion and applauded Gov. Willie Obiano for his giant strides in the areas of security, healthcare delivery and community choose a project initiative of the state government, which have seen the state as top in the country.

In conclusion, Igwe MacAnthony appealed to the Governor to erect new structures in the hospital pointing out that the community is in dire need of secondary healthcare services.
Highlight of the occasion was the foundation laying for the construction of the GOPD/ theatre block.
