The President General of notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), Amb. Emeni Ibe, has expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government and NDDC for key developmental strides in Ogboloma Community, noting that the construction of access roads, installation of solar street lights, and the approval of a secondary school were the major reasons for the community’s thanksgiving celebration.
Amb. Ibe made this known during the Ogboloma Community Thanksgiving Day, where he also conferred an Ambassadorial Certificate and Award of Excellence on the Paramount Ruler, Oola-Ema Micah Brother Igonieghel (II), in recognition of his outstanding leadership and service.
Speaking at the event, Amb. Ibe described the traditional ruler as a symbol of peace, unity, and progressive leadership whose reign has brought stability and development to Ogboloma and the wider Orashi region. He noted that the honour was not merely ceremonial but a deliberate effort to celebrate integrity, selfless service, and impactful grassroots leadership.
According to him, the monarch’s leadership style, anchored on inclusiveness and open engagement, has strengthened community cohesion and inspired confidence among stakeholders. He added that the ONC remains committed to recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and unity of the region.
The ceremony however, took a dramatic and emotional turn when Amb. Ibe made a passionate appeal to the Siminalayi Fubara, calling on the State Government to further support Ogboloma Community with additional critical infrastructure, including a standard healthcare centre.
In a moment that drew widespread attention, the ONC President General went on his knees, passionately pleading with the governor to grant official government recognition to the Paramount Ruler. He emphasized that such recognition would further strengthen traditional authority and acknowledge the monarch’s immense contributions to peace and development in the community.
Amb. Ibe stressed that honouring impactful leaders while they are alive serves as encouragement for continued service and inspires others to contribute meaningfully to society.
He also commended the people of Ogboloma for their unity and support for their traditional institution, noting that sustainable development thrives in an atmosphere of cooperation and visionary leadership.
The event was attended by community leaders, stakeholders, and dignitaries from across the Orashi region, all of whom praised the Paramount Ruler for his dedication to the welfare of his people.
The ONC reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the development of Orashi communities and called on relevant authorities to respond positively to the needs of the people.
