Amechi Blesses Ekwunife Ahead Of The Upcoming Governorship Election

The First Republic Minister of Aviation and the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement, Chief Mbazulike Amechi, has stated that women are entitled to dual citizenship.

He said this on Sunday, 10th January, 2021 when the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and leading Governorship Aspirant for the 2021 Governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), paid him a scheduled visit at his palatial home in Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, Anambra State.

Receiving the quintessential Senator, Chief Amechi noted with pleasure that Senator Ekwunife is one of the candidates contesting to serve as the Governor of the State. He described her as a politician, whose antecedents and track records have shown that she has all it takes to restore the glory of the State, if given its mantle of leadership.

According to the elder statesman, in the culture of Igboland and constitutionally, women have dual citizenship and have the right to serve from both their place of birth and their place of marriage.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Ekwunife appreciated God Almighty for granting Chief Amechi sound health of mind and body even at the celebrated age of 92. He described the elder statesman, popularly known as ‘the boy is good’ as one Nigerian who deserves to be celebrated for his contributions to nation building and prayed God to grant him many more years in sound health.

Continuing, Senator Ekwunife reiterated that Anambra State, more than ever before needs a leader who understands the State’s developmental challenges. She re-emphasized that her established records of performance and antecedents put her in a better position to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra.

Concluding, Senator Ekwunife appealed to the elder statesman to give her his blessings, prayers and support as she commences her journey of convincing the party faithfuls and the electorates of Anambra South to support her in her bid to become the next Governor of the State. She encouraged Chief Amechi to continue to use his insights and experience to pursue the ideals of good governance.

The meeting ended with the host presenting his latest book entitled “A Political History of Modern Nigeria: Words and Thoughts of Mbazuluike Amechi” to the Senator in appreciation for her visit.

The Director General of Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization, Chief A. A Anagu, Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Anambra State, High Chief Barr. Ken Arinze, Former Deputy Chairman Anaocha LGA, Chief Chuka Okpoko and others were on the Senator’s entourage.
