As waves of endorsement continue to fly in, in favour of Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) ahead of the June 26 primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the caucus of the party in the Senate has thrown their weight behind Ekwunife, describing her as a dogged and experienced politician who has exemplified herself as a true representative of the people.

The caucus arrived at the decision in a meeting held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, which had in attendance the minority leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Oduah, OON, amongst other respected and distinguished Senators of PDP extraction.

Addressing the caucus, Ekwunife who has continued to visit all stakeholders of the party within and outside the state, remained consistent in preaching the need for the PDP to present a candidate who has the capacity to win the election, the competence to deliver on promises and the heart to address the yearnings of the people.

Senator Ekwunife said that experience in lawmaking remains one of the greatest advantage one can have going into an executive office. She noted that her sojourn as a legislator has equipped her with the priceless understanding of the workings of governance, adding that such experience coupled with her years of engagements with Ndi Anambra endow her with a greater understanding of the economic, social and political needs of Anambrarians.

Adding her voice in support of Ekwunife as well as appreciating the caucus for their support, was the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District and Vice Chairman Senate committee on Appropriation, Senator Stella Oduah who in her remarks described Ekwunife as a politician who has shown unparalleled commitment and capacity in addressing the needs of her people. She said that she is supporting Ekwunife because she knows that Ekwunife has all it takes to return the party to power in Anambra State, assuring the caucus that they will not regret throwing their weight behind the performing lawmaker.

The meeting ended with avalanche of support and good wishes from the Senators, who assured Ekwunife of their moral, spiritual and financial support.
