Anambra Central: Senator Ekwunife Facilitates First Of Its Kind Capacity Building For President Generals

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), on Wednesday, 25th November, 2020, facilitated the first of its kind training for President Generals of the respective Town Unions of Anambra Central Senatorial District.

The strategic training which focused on Entrepreneurship and Human Capital Development was designed to equip the PGs with the requisite knowledge that will assist them in improving the living standards of their wards and understanding the enormous responsibility reposed on them as community leaders.

Giving his welcome address, the Centre Manager of Technology Incubation Centre Nnewi, Dr Ugochukwu Okafor, stated that the programme was targeted at enhancing the capacities of the President Generals towards creating wealth as the administrative heads of their various communities.

He noted that the programme covers presentations on entrepreneurship development, human capital development and financial management, and urged the participants to utilize the opportunities embedded in the programme to improve on their leadership skills.

In her remarks, Senator Ekwunife, who was represented by the Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industries Anambra State, Hon Ken Arinze, revealed that the programme was engineered to equip the PGs with transferable skills that will see them utilize what they have learnt to create wealth, address youths restiveness and make genuine impact on the lives of those in their communities.

The Senator further stated that the important roles of the PGs in community development is very demanding hence the need to constantly upgrade their leadership capabilities. 

The Federal Lawmaker reiterated her resolve to work closely with the community leaders to ensure that the various projects in their communities are beneficial and are in tandem with the needs of her constituents. She urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Senatorial District as they discharge their official functions to the benefit of their respective communities.

Giving a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Presidents General, Anambra Central Senatorial District, Comr. Sir Nonyelu Okoye, appreciated the Senator for facilitating such a laudable programme. He described the Federal Lawmaker as a promise keeper and noted that the PGs are highly impressed by her representation. He prayed God to reward her abundantly and grant her the enablement to continue to discharge her duties as the quintessential representative of Ndi Anambra Central.

The event ended with the presentation of certificates of participation to the participants.

Other distinguished guests and facilitators present at the event include the Zonal Director, National Board For Technology Incubation (NBTI), South East Zonal Office Nnewi, Dr Mrs U.P Chukwu, Head, Southeast Zonal Peace Building Institute For Peace and Conflict Resolution, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Awka, Princess A.P.O. Uzodinma, Principal Mechanical Engineer, Technology Incubation Centre Nnewi, Engineer Obi Nnaemeka Eneanya, A Senior Accountant at the Technology Incubation Centre Nnewi, Mr Ifeanyi Utonwane among others.
