Posted on April 27, 2024

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, on Saturday, 27th April, 2024, bowed out of service after 35 years of service and 10 months of leading the State Police Command.

Adeoye was appointed the Police CP in Anambra by the Police Service Commission, on June 30, 2023, replacing Echeng Echeng, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to Zone 9, Umuahia.

During the ceremonial pull-out parade of the Police boss held at the Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Saturday, Adeoye noted that he had been at various Police units and performed well, adding that he served many Police Commissioners.

He added that he was fully prepared for the job when he assumed office, which was why he was able to tackle the security challenges in Anambra, reducing them to the barest minimum.

Also speaking during the ceremony, the state Deputy Governor, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, who represented the governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, commended the retiring CP for his efforts at reducing insecurity in the state.

He said, “There is usually a time to begin something and there is also a time to end it. The CP has done very well in Anambra. If we could retain him, we would have done so”.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and various groups, including the Yoruba and Hausa communities, among others.

Adeoye performed the pulling-out parade in the company of his wife.
