Anambra Guber 2021: Group Endorses Nwankpo As Consensus Candidate

Posted on April 23, 2021

The Anambra Political Group on Friday endorsed Nze Akachukwu Sullivan Nwankpo as the consensus candidate of the Anambra Political Front, a formidable political pressure group comprises of key stakeholders in APGA.

The group’s position was made known in a statement issued by its Secretary, Hon Emma Osaku, in Awka.

Speaking during the endorsement at Nwankpo’s Country home in Okija, the group’s Chief Convener Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Egwuonwu, said that they decided to support the APGA governorship aspirant after examining profiles of other aspirants in APGA.

“As a body, we took the pain to examine the other aspirants in APGA because we don’t want to make any mistakes,” he said.

“Whatever choice we arrived at today, as regards endorsement, would positively or negatively impact on our future. Therefore, we resolve to give our support to Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo.”

Responding, the APGA leading governorship aspirant, Nze Nwankpo, said that he was honoured. He said: “For you people to endorse me, it means you believe in me, it is not about money. There are other more wealthy aspirants that can give you money but you rejected. My promise to you all today is that I will not fail you”.

The group called on other aspirants to join hands with Nwankpo to ensure his eventual emergence as the candidate of APGA in the forthcoming gubernatorial primaries.

It will be recalled that Nwankpo had emerged as the preferred candidate on April 11, after being voted for by 9 out of the 11 members of the governorship candidate selection committee, constituted by the Anambra Political Front, APF.

Nwankpo’s candidature was announced after the committee, headed by Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Egwuonwu, with Hon Emma Osaku as Secretary, had submitted its report.
