Posted on July 10, 2025
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has commended Anambra State for its impressive infrastructural development and ease of doing business, particularly in digitalizing its economy through the National Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).
According to Gabriel Ohiemi, Team Leader of PEBEC, Anambra State has shown significant progress in creating a business-friendly environment. Ohiemi noted that GNIS has helped reduce land-related disputes and scams by enabling electronic access to land information.
The PEBEC team visited Anambra State for a town hall meeting and stakeholders’ engagement on State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER). Ohiemi mentioned that a $750 million fund has been initiated to support states in deepening reforms, with less than 10% withdrawn so far.
Governor Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Onyekachi Ibezim, expressed appreciation to PEBEC for their visit and acknowledged the importance of their assessment. He assured that Anambra State is committed to providing a friendly business environment and working towards becoming the top state in the country.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Christian Udechukwu, also praised the program, highlighting the state’s beneficial relationship with the Federal Government and access to Small Scale and Medium Entrepreneur (SME) grants.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Chiamaka Nnake, explained that PEBEC’s visit aimed to engage with the business community and improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria. She noted that Anambra State has made significant efforts to improve infrastructure and business-friendly policies.
