The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chieftain, Sir. Patrick Nnaemeka Ubajaka (Ike Nnewi), has declared his readiness to be returned as the newly elected Senator for Anambra South Senatorial District.
It will be recalled that Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, the elected Senator who represented Anambra South, died on 27th July, 2024, in an undisclosed hospital abroad creating legislative vacuum in the senatorial district.
Sir. Ubajaka, who is a seasoned politician and a law pundit, has reiterated his resolve to serve Anambra South with his wealth of experience and mastery in Law and Public Service.
In an interview, Sir. Patrick Ubajaka outlined his vision and prospects for his people.
According to Sir. Ubajaka, “Lawmaking is about grassroots mobilisation, understanding the needs of the people, due consultation and regular interface with the people, which will form a legislative framework to be considered and on the floor of the Senate through my unrelenting lobby. I have friends both in the public and private sector. I also have friends in the 10th Senate; so you can see that the lobby and consultations have started even before I get elected – it is all about people oriented legislation”.
On what drove his conviction that he will win APGA’s ticket for the rerun, P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Sir. Patrick Ubajaka (Ike Nnewi) has been with the All Progressives Grand Alliance for over 22 years (since 2002) and has never defected to any political party nor played anti-party politics.
He said, “I have been with APGA since 2002, served APGA as a critical stakeholder meritoriously in different capacities including as a Campaign DG of the party during the gubernatorial election which returned His Excellency Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo elected”.
“I am a former Nnewi North Local Government Transition Chairman. I have served APGA faithfully and believe the lucid vision of our party with the party faithful having confidence in me, which is also an added advantage.”
When asked on what new things he is going to bring to the floor of the Senate to harness the enormous tourist potentials of Ogbaukwu cave Owerre-Ezukala, Sir. Patrick Ubajaka (Ike Nnewi) declared that the nucleus of economic recovery progress is when you fight and tackle security challenges.
According to Ike Nnewi, “I will first of all possibly be in contact with relevant security stakeholders to put an end to the security menace in Anambra South. That way, investors will rekindle their hope to come to Anambra South to invest not just in Ogba-Ukwu but other areas of endeavour. Security is the responsibility of all irrespective of your status or class. It requires concerted efforts to achieve the set goals”.
