Angry Tenant Beats Up Landlady Over House Rent

An angry tenant, Mr. Opeyemi Adekunle has vented his frustration on his landlady, Mrs. Fumilayo Ayobami for daring to demand arrears of house rent which he was owing her in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Adekunle grabbed Ayobami and beat her mercilessly and warned her never to demand house rent from him until he got a job.
The incident happened at Kolawole Street at Egbe in Ikotun area of Lagos where they resided.
The assault was reported to the police at Ikotun Division and Adekunle was arrested and detained at the station.
It was gathered that since last year, Adekunle had not paid any rent to the landlady and had explained his condition to her because he had no job. The landlady continued with her demand and did not allow him to have peace in the compound whenever he was around.
On the day the incident happened, it was gathered that the landlady as usual confronted him and asked him to park out since he could not pay the rent after several failed promises. It was leant that Adekunle became angry and said that the landlady was mocking him because of his condition. He reportedly grabbed her, beat her mercilessly and escaped.
He was later arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rita Ijeomah did not object to his bail but urged the court to give condition that will ensure that Adekunle faced the trial in the interest of justice.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adedayo granted Adekunle bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Adekunle was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 30 January, 2018.
