Another Missed Channels TV Opportunity By Ihedioha To Assuage The Anger Of Igbos

This morning, I took time to watch the widely announced interview of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha on Channels Tv anchored by Chamberlain Usor, our brother. I decided to abandon all my engagement to stay put my television for two reasons: one was, I wanted to hear directly from him what he really said, meant or what he intended about his offensive description of Igbos as ‘Sabouteurs’. Secondly, as an Aide ofGovernor Uzodimma in the media department, I knew he would lie against the Governor as he always do and this, ivwanted to hear his new release of lies. I did not want to be told about it.

True to my expectation, Ihedioha lied, lied and lied. For instance, he told bare faced lies that the Imo state government under Uzodimma is undertaking the dredging of Orashi River, a project that has kept them unsettled since it was announced. This is pure lies. According to him, as a lawmaker, the project could only be done by the Federal Government because it is on the exclusive list. Ofcourse, we are aware that no time did Uzodimma claim that the state government is having the project rather he said federal government, being the reason why top officials of the Navy and NIWA were here and visited Oguta corridor.. Infact, the Governor said he secured the approval from Buhari. So Ihedioha lied big time.

Again, on the issue of his derogatory comment, he only managed to utter what could be seen to be a feeble apology for making such comment against his brothers and sisters from the South East.. The apology, for me, was not with a manifest remorsefulness. He merely said it as a political tool not really that it came from his mind because he was still defending the fact that only his Atiku could win election by saying that they considered ‘partnership that will work” Which partnership, one may?

Rt Hon Ihedioha also lied that he supported the zoning of the Presidency to the South East in his party. Again, this is not true. It is on record that in 2019, he supported his friend Tambuwal against South East Aspirants in PDP. Also, he supported Tanbuwal at the begining of the primary contest in PDP this year untill Tambuwal stepped down for Atiku. There were Igbo Aspirants like Peter Obi then, Anyiam Pius Anyiam, Ohuabunwa etc in PDP that contested the primaries with Atiku. Which one of them did he support to justify his claim that he supported the zoning of the Presidency to the Igbos. I mean this is pure lies.

So I feel that Rt Hon Ihedioha’s outing today was a defeatist one. It did not achieve any purpose. If for anything, it only confirmed the obvious. I had expected Rt Hon to commit 80% of the time allocated to him to explain and apologize to the Igbos over his Ghana comment because that was the major reason why he paid hum sums of money to get Air time with Channels Tv. Rather, he was only interested in the politics of 2023 and his usual obsession on Uzodimma. He parried some if the questions that were thrown at him. Though, he looked composed but he dodged the main questions and prevaricated all through.

Overall, he missed a golden opportunity and achieved practically nothing with the interview. The opportunity was wasted as the intention was defeated.
