Another Student Attempts Suicide, Drinks Sniper

A student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka UNN), identified as Miss Chinwendu Odoh, 24, on Saturday reportedly drank a substance believed to ‘Sniper’ insecticide in order to terminate her life.

According to the SP Ebere Amaraizu, Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, the UNN student, who hails from Enugu Ezike in Igboeze Local Government Area of Enugu State, attempted suicide at about 0800hours on Saturday.

The Police spokesperson however, hinted that the 200 level Microbiology student was responding to treatment.

“The victim, Miss Chinwendu Odoh, 24, from Enugu Ezike in Igbo-Eze North LGA, allegedly drank a substance believed to be ‘Sniper’ insecticide with a view to taking her life.
“She was, however, promptly rushed to the Royal Cross Hospital, Nsukka, where she is being revived’’ the Police PRO said.

According to SP Amaraizu, a full scale investigation into the incident is being carried out by the Police. Information from sympathisers are pointing towards depression over an unresolved issue but the victim is responding to treatment in the hospital.
