APC Leaders, Stakeholders Carpet Toke Benson & Supporters

Posted on September 18, 2018

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the Ikeja Federal Constituency have carpeted Toke Benson Awoyinka and her supporters over a protest they purportedly staged on Monday September 17, 2018.

Toke Benson was said to have sponsored disgruntled elements who were not bonafide members of the party to protest the aspiration of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke – the current Member of Federal House of Representatives, who is seeking reelection.

According to one of the leaders, Hon. Julius Oloro, Executive Chairman, Ojodu LCDA, who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS, he said that Hon. James Abiodun Faleke had over the years provided quality representation which made it easy for the leaders and stakeholders across Ikeja Federal Constituency to unanimously endorse his aspiration to seek reelection. He wondered how Toke Benson Awoyinka came about the insinuation that he had not represented the constituency well.

Another leader in the constituency, Hon. Tayo Orekoya, said that Toke Benson Awoyinka and her army of disgruntled elements were on their own as members of the party had endorsed the reelection of the lawmaker who had represented them well. He said she could only be seen to be working against the collective interest of the party going by her actions in the last couple of weeks.

Another leader and stakeholder in the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Mayor Alani Okikioposu, said that Toke Benson Awoyinka and her co-travellers were only displaying desperation and lack of belief in the party supremacy. He submitted that she should desist from her campaign of calumny and propaganda as her actions depict that she had not been loyal to the leadership of the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said it is no longer news that Hon. James Abiodun Faleke who she was trying to malign only veered into Kogi politics on the instruction of the party leadership in order to secure victory for the APC over there and that if the same leadership is now backing the reelection bid of the lawmaker then her actions can only be seen as disloyalty to the party she is claiming to be part of.

When P.M.EXPRESS approached the media team of Hon James Faleke for comments on the purported protest, the coordinator of the team, Hon. Edward Samuel Aragbonfoh, said that the lady was only seeking cheap popularity and should be ignored. He said that the lady in question had at different times showed that she was not a team player, cannot be trusted and had betrayed the interest of the progressives at different times. He said that by the time the lady was said to have gathered the disgruntled elements for the purported protest, that the stakeholders of the party were at Excellence Hotel, Ogba, attending the inauguration of Team Faleke; he said that alone showed she was just on a wild goose chase and should not be taken serious. Hon. Edward ended by advising that she should desist from her campaign of calumny and test her popularity in the forthcoming party primaries.
