The Executives of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the United Kingdom met with the Executive of Governor of Kano State, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Ganduje, at Park Lane Hotel, London, where issues relating to the development of the state and the country at large were discussed.

The executive meeting was also attended by the APC Kano State chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abass, the Commissioner of information for Kano state, Malam Muhammad Garba, the Commissioner of health, Dr. Ibrahim Getso amongst other Kano state dignitaries who were in attendance to brainstorm on the way to collaborate with the party chapter in the United Kingdom to bring about rapid development to the country through the expertise available within the chapter.

The chieftain of the party in the UK, Prince Ade Omole welcomed the Governor and expressed the commitment of progressives in the Diaspora to continue supporting the national party and the state in order to ensure the sustenance of the current progress being witnessed across the country.

In his response, the Governor took his time to highlight the achievements of his administration ranging from health reform to education and vocational training to enhance skill acquisition.

According to the Governor, “one of the major problems facing the Country today is unemployment, most especially the young graduates from higher institutions of learning.

“The administration has introduced special interventions to make the graduates employable. One of such interventions is the Modern Skill Acquisition Centre that trains graduates in 24 different skills to make them more attractive to employers.
On the issue of health, the administration is in its final stage of putting an end to medical tourism in Nigeria.

“We have built an ultra-modern hospital in collaboration with an international organisation and medical institutions to address the issue of medical tourism in Nigeria, the hospital which has been named after President Muhammadu Buhari will provide medical services to patients across the continent instead of travelling to Europe.

Gov. Ganduje described President Muhammadu Buhari as the most respected President in Africa, most especially in the area of corruption and his ability to curtail the Boko Haram menace that had almost crippled the country during the last administration.

He expressed confidence in Buhari’s administration to bring an end to the herdsmen famers’ clashes, saying the end has come to that ugly development in the country.

The Governor travelled to the United Kingdom to receive an award of excellence bestowed on him on the occasion of the 70th founder’s celebration of Nigeria’s premier university, University of Ibadan organised by UI Alumni Global Network.

APC UK executives who attended the high-profile meeting included Mr Joseph Adebola, Mrs Ifeoma Faruk, Mr Femi Oke, Mr Mustapha Abdullahi, Mr Chris Onumonu and Professor Alao.
