Army Officer Duped $18,000 By Suspected Conman In Lagos

A 62-year old man, Oluwole David has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly defrauding an Army Captain, (name withheld) to the tune of $18,000 under false pretence.

The naira equivalent of what the victim was said to have lost was put at about N7m. Oluwole was remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi, Lagos after his arraignment for the alleged offence.

The incident happened at Sowemimo Street in Ikeja, Lagos where the transaction took place. The victim met Oluwole David and negotiated with him to supply some listoplates.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that David collected the money and promised him that he will travel to Italy to import the goods.

However, the whole arrangement turned out to be a scam after the officer had paid him the money.
It was gathered that David obtained the money, bolted away and did not supply the items as he promised.
The scam was reported to the police at X-Squad unit Command, Ikeja who trailed David and later arrested him.
At the command, David admitted that he obtained the money from the victim and had used it to solve other pressing issues.

He was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for conspiracy and obtaining under false pretense under the Criminal Code. He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted him bail and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
