Asisat Oshoala Dedicates World Cup Goal To Rev Mother Esther Ajayi

Assistant captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Asisat Oshoala has dedicated her goal against Korea at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup to Rev Mother Esther Ajayi .

Asisat Oshoala sealed the victory for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their 2-0 win over South Korea last Wednesday at the ongoing World Cup in France.

Oshoala, with Wednesday’s goal, became the second Nigerian woman to score at two different World Cup editions, following in the footsteps of Rita Nwadike, another Nigerian, who scored in 1995 and 1999.

The Super Falcons were mauled 3-0 in their opening game at the World Cup against Norway and they were aware that nothing short of victory in Wednesday’s game would help their chances of still staying on at the World Cup in France.

Nigeria face France, the hosts on Monday night in their last group game.

“I’m really happy to have scored for Nigeria, it’s was a great one and I want to use this medium to dedicate the goal to my mentor, Rev Mother Esther Ajayi for her support for my life and more importantly to the development of women’s sports in Nigeria. She stood by me last year during my foundation programme, God bless her,” Oshoala said.
