One of the basic amenities that mankind must live on every day is water and where this is lacking, there is definitely going to be a deficiency in the functionality of life, as it is difficult to survive where there is no potable water.

In order to bridge the lacuna created by the scarcity of water within the Itunmoja community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, a daughter of the soil believes giving back to her community would be a deserving gift as 2020 is winding up.

Asisat Oshoala, captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, who is also playing with FC Barcelona Gemini in Spain, would have decided to give out Christmas gifts such as bags of rice, chickens and other items to her people,  but she strongly felt that giving back source of water to the community that gave her the opportunity in life will be a huge benefit to the people.

Asisat Oshoala Foundation in partnership with the UBA Foundation decided to provide good, clean, and drinkable potable water for the Itunmoja community in Ikorodu.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that the solar borehole project was inaugurated on Sunday, 27 December. The borehole was built in front of Itunmoja Mosque on Adenaike Alagbe Street, Itunmoja Ikorodu.

Dignitaries included the Director-General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Gafaar Bolowotan, Asisat’s mother, Alhaja Khadijat Lamina Oshoala, landlords in the community, religious leaders in the mosque and residents.

“This is a good one for the community,”  the Director General said while commissioning the borehole project amid cheer and ovations from the residents.

“This is expected of Asisat because this is the community where she grew up and I strongly believe that giving back to her community with this kind of life project is not too much. This is wonderful,” he said.

“We expect more of our sportspeople to give out something of this nature to our society. We are proud of what Asisat Oshoala has done to her community today. This shows that she has been useful and so wonderful to the people apart from sports,” Bolowotan said.
