Ate’s Cup: Sponsor Warns Teams Over Violence

As the ongoing Ate’s Football Competition reaches the quarter final stage, the cup donor, Fuad Akintunde has charged the fans and teams’ supporters to shun any form of social vices that may bring the tournament into disrepute.
The tournament which kicked off three weeks ago is holding at LSDPC football Pitch, Ile- Iwe Metta, Isolo.
Akintunde said that he was impressed with the turnout of spectators who came to watch the tourney and urged them to continue exhibiting the spirits of sportsmanship during and after the game.
“I have watched many matches with the fans here and their attitude and conduct during these matches showed that they are passionate about the round leather game in Isolo. As the competition is getting to the quarter final stage, I want to urge the fans to shun violence during and after the game.
“The organizers would not condone any form of hooliganism from players or fans because the competition is not a do or die affair. I am using this medium to appeal to our fans to continue supporting us by coming out in large numbers and cheer the teams to victory,” said. Akintunde popularly known as Ate.
Meanwhile Power FC and J. Boy FC have booked a place in the quarter final stage after winning their two matches, while Olowu FC have crashed out of the tournament after losing two matches in the group stage.
