Bizarre As Man, 29, Defiles Minor With Down Syndrome

Posted on April 17, 2020

A 29-year old man, Timothy Abijo, on Thursday April 17, has been caught allegedly having a carnal knowledge of a female minor with a special condition of Down Syndrome.

Timothy, who was visiting his cousin at 32, Adetola Street, Felele Area, Ibadan, Oyo State, was alleged to have lured the 13-year old girl known as Bimbola into his host’s room, gagged and raped her.

He then allegedly gave the girl a N500 note after warning her not to tell anyone else she will be dealt with.

A source told this P.M.EXPRESS that before her ordeal, Bimbola was a virgin and suffers down syndrome —which implies she has special needs and has issues with her speech.

The source explained that the incident occurred between the hours of 10 a.m and 11 a.m when Bimbola’s mother, Iyabo left her at home to go get food for the family to eat.

However, Bimbola could not explained what had happened when her mother found her where she was hiding under the stairs crying.

“It took physical examination for her mother to realise her daughter had been brutally defiled. Upon enquiry, she pointed at the room where she was violated and there was Timothy who fled immediately,” the source said.

It took the swift response of the operatives of Felele Police Station and cooperation of Timothy’s cousin to apprehend him at the Toll Gate end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where he was trying to flee to Lagos where he resides.

Neighbours noted that Timothy might have had company as he was seen with someone else that morning but the suspect claims he carried out the heinous act singlehandedly.

While Timothy is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment, the source said life, as it is for Bimbola, has changed as she is presently traumatized.

“She needs help. This is a call to meaningful members of the public to help in Bimbola’s plight. No one deserves this inhumane treatment as we continue to work with the law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is equally meted out to Timothy and other criminals like him,” the source added.
