It was a black Friday for some passengers who perched on the roof of a moving train as it ran into a commercial bus at the Agege area of Lagos.

The victims were mostly illegal passengers who hung on top of the train. As the train rammed into the commercial bus most of the passengers on top of the train fell off and died. The survivors then arranged themselves and set the commercial bus ablaze.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the situation caused heavy human and vehicular traffic around the Agege axis. But normalcy has returned to the area as security and emergency agencies responded promptly; law enforcement agencies were seen on ground to prevent further breakdown of law and order. The LASEMA team and other medical personnel evacuated the dead and those injured in the accident.

P.M.EXPRESS correspondent gathered from eye witnesses that the accident would have been prevented if most drivers and riders slowed down or stopped when they approached the rail lines, especially in areas where roads passed through the rail tracks. Some people blamed the railway workers for continuing to allow illegal passengers on top of the train not minding past incidents that involved lost of lives. A lady, one Turayo Yusuf, who owned a shop close to the scene of the accident called on the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Railway Corporation to urgently address the issue of illegal passengers on top the train to prevent future occurrence.
