Budget Presentation By Gov. Fubara Signals Genuine Peace In Rivers State — Says ONC

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly as a clear signal that genuine peace has returned to the state.
The notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group said the budget exercise, which had been delayed by political tension, shows that governance and development are now back on track in Rivers.
Speaking on behalf of ONC, the President General, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, commended the Governor for fulfilling his constitutional duty.
“Today, our amiable Governor presented the 2026 Appropriation proposal of N1.854 Trillion to the Rivers State House of Assembly,” Amb. Ibe stated.
The Governor tagged it ‘Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development’. He indicated the intention of Government to sustain the economic growth, expand critical infrastructure and improve the welfare of Rivers people.

The ONC leader said the size and focus of the budget underscores the Fubara administration’s commitment to accelerating development across all parts of the state.
“It underscores the Fubara administration’s commitment to accelerating development across the State, especially capturing all sectors of our economy,” he said.
According to him, the emphasis on infrastructure, human capital, agriculture, health, and education aligns with the yearnings of Rivers people, including communities in the Orashi region.
Amb. Ibe noted that presenting the budget before the House of Assembly without rancor is itself proof that the political atmosphere in the state has stabilized.
The ONC President General urged members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to give the budget speedy but thorough consideration to ensure early implementation.
“We call on the Legislature to partner with the Executive in the interest of Rivers people. This budget must translate to roads, jobs, functional schools, hospitals, and improved livelihoods for our people,” he added.
He also assured the Governor of ONC’s support and collaboration in mobilizing grassroots communities for the successful execution of projects captured in the 2026 budget.
Governor Fubara presented the N1.854 trillion budget to the Assembly on Friday, describing it as a blueprint to consolidate gains, expand infrastructure, and improve the welfare of citizens despite prevailing economic challenges.
Stakeholders across the state have continued to welcome the presentation as a step toward restoring normalcy and focusing attention on development.
