Hon Olusegun Olulade, the Epe Constituency II Lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly has described the outcome of the just concluded Presidential election as ‘victory for the masses’ while President Muhammadu Buhari is just a flag bearer and leader of the quest for a new Nigeria that can represent and treat everyone equally.

Olulade said this while congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates of the APC elected across Nigeria at the Saturday 23rd February general election in the country. “The tussle was between the common masses and elite beneficiaries of a corrupt environment, and the good thing is that the masses won”.

“The public awareness has become so high that the masses voice also reflected in the National Assembly voting, showing that the people detest a legislature that constitutes perennial blockade to the good cause of the executive, as seen in the component of the current National Assembly”, Hon Olulade said.

While commending Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a job well done, he stated that no election is completely perfect across the world.

Quoting Hon Olulade, “Not even American election is perfect, therefore, we need to commend INEC for painstakingly conducting a free, fair and credible election this far. We should not allow anyone to run down our electoral system particularly with disparaging comments from any international community or country.

The lawmaker urged the former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar that it is now time to exercise his acclaimed democrat spirit and maturity by congratulating President Buhari and ignore those trying to drift him towards chaos by rejecting the results of the election.

Further, Hon Olulade said service is not only about holding public office, and that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar can join hands with President Buhari to rebuild Nigeria of our dream. In same spirit, all other candidates who gave fierce challenge to President Buhari in this contest should offer to work with him as their courage to run for the most exalted office in the land has showcased their brilliance and capacities to the Nigerian public.

Olulade warned that any public protest arising from PDP’s rejection will paint the party in bad light and desperate to return to power by every means, a sign that will simply means the PDP gladiators are truly interested in power only and not in the welfare of Nigerians.

In conclusion, Hon Olulade called on the masses not to relent by trooping out again on 9th March to support all candidates of APC for the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly positions. He retreated that development is smooth when there exist synergy between the federal government and state government under same party.

He then urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to forget the heroic sacrifice of the masses by making good his promises as a man of integrity that he is known to be. “The president must quickly address economic hardships on Nigerians by deploying policies that can fast track economic growths to enable Nigerians breathe sight of relief. Youth development, SMEs growth, stable electricity, health care facilities and continued anti-corruption crusade must be top priorities of Mr President in the second tenure” Olulade concluded.
