A 52-year old man, Peter Raymond has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly stealing slippers at a popular super market in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that this followed after Raymond was caught by the CCTV mounted inside the store which monitors activities within the store unknown to Raymond.
The incident happened at Queens Super Store owned by Twins Faja Nigeria Limited in Ikotun Lagos.
According to Police sources, Raymond went into the store and pretended that he wanted to buy some items and was moving round checking some items displayed there. While he was moving round without the company’s staff, he thought he was free to do whatever he wanted inside the store.
It was gathered that Raymond stole the items and hid inside his body and attempted to move away without buying anything.
However, the company’s security who had monitored his activities halted him, searched and recovered the stolen items from him.
The total cost of the items Raymond was said to have stolen from the store was N47,000 which included the pair of slippers and shoe.

He was handed over to the Police at Ikotun division where he admitted that he committed the alleged offence.
He explained that he needed money to take care of his family as his business had collapsed and asked for leniency from the management and the police.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the management insisted that the matter should be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others who might want to try such in future.

Raymond was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court and he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties.
However, Raymond was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 21 August 2017.
