A former Commissioner for Information in Cross River State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Akin Ricketts, days ago brought succour to people who were displaced by the communal clashes that happened recently in Cross River State.

Chief Ricketts said that he was moved to show genuine concern because nothing was set in motion to ameliorate the condition of the people. In his words, they were internally traumatized people and not just displaced people as many of them had witnessed the killings of their loved ones before their very eyes and the communal clashes equally destroyed their means of livelihood.

He charged the State Government and spirited individuals to look in the direction of those living in the communities that witnessed the clashes and help get them back to normal lives. He also posited that the root causes of the communal clashes must be addressed to prevent reoccurrence in the future.

Chief Ricketts distributed food items, toiletries, household items and many other relief materials to the various communities affected by the clashes. The communities that benefitted included Nyima, Kekpeti, Adun and Iyametet.

The leaders of the various communities expressed their appreciation to Chief Akin Ricketts for bringing succour to their communities especially when the people needed the materials provided.
