CHRSJ Drags Soldier, Police, Others Before Head Of Security Operatives Over Tractor/Okada Issues

A human rights organization, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), has dragged a Soldier, the Police and others before the head of security Operatives in the country over abuse of office, illegal arrest, unlawful detention and stealing.

Also, the Centre (CHRSJ) has berated the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Oregun Police Station, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, over illegal and unlawful arrest and detention of one Tractor Driver, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin (+234 8022270377), alleging of stealing the working Tractor in the house of Mr. Gbadegesin in Ihunbo Town after his arrest by fake Police, without his knowledge.

Mr. Gbadegesin was illegally arrested in Ihunbo Town, under Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, by one Babatunde (+2348060228110), who called himself Police Officer attached to Force Headquarters,Abuja on 19th Day of November, 2021 and detained Gbadegesin at Oregun Divisional Police Station, Ikeja, Lagos, with unknown Police Officer claimed to be Investigation Police Officer(IPO) working under the DPO and DCO of the Oregun Police Station.

It was alleged that Gbadegesin was illegally arrested along with a working tractor and the tractor still detained at Oregun Divisional Police Station as the time of filing this report, calling for immediate release of the tractor illegally detained at the Police Station.

It was further alleged that Babatunde(+234 8060228110), the fake Police Officer with his partner in-crime, Mr. Braid Edward (+2347069617359) and Mr. Mukaila Abuga:(+2349061741984), conspired with the lawless DPO and DCO attached to Oregun Police Station to accept to detain a law abiding citizen, Gbadegesin, who they alleged of committing a frivolous offence of being a tractor driver to one tractor that has developed fault since 2019 in Ihunbo farm, Ogun State and the owner (Braid Edward) refused to repair the tractor since then.

CHRSJ added that the new tractor being in the custody of Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin, was owned by Alhaji Rasaq Pedro (+2348058896377) and the tractor was detained at the Oregun Police Station illegally till the present moment, explaining that the working tractor was parked in front of Mr. Gbadegesi’s House in Ihunbo before the fake Police(Babatunde) went to Gbadegesin’s house to arrest the tractor and detain it at Oregun Police Station.

Meanwhile, a Soldier, Uthman Abdullahi Adebisi(+234 8038944807), had been alleged of  hijacking a motorcycle popularly known as “Okada” belonging to one Mr. Esikaya Mathew(+2348029700301).

It was learnt that Esikaya Matthew (+2348029700301), a native of one of the Benin Republic border town, Koko in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, had his Okada seized by the Soldier but the Soldier refused to release the motorcycle after the payment of sum of five thousand (N5,000) Naira into his First Bank Account details, Uthman Abdullahi Adebisi (2010134618).

The red coloured motorcycle with Registration N0:JGB 43QS, Engine N0:DUZWHL20618 and Chassis N0:MDZA18AZ8HWI41954,owned by  Esikaya Matthew, was still with the Soldier, Uthman Abdullahi Adebisi, as at the time of filling this report.

Investigation revealed to CHRSJ that the Soldier, Uthman Abdullahi Adebisi, has been using the motorcycle to smuggle banned goods such as rice, turkey and others from Cotonou to the shores of the country in the area for his wife, claiming to be a uniformed man.

It added that his wife’s shop is located at Kilometre 18, Idiroko Border Road, Bash Filling Station opposite Oppressor Filing Station, Ihunbo.

Investigation also revealed that the Soldier, Uthman Abdullahi Adebisi, was one of the Soldiers from 192 Battalion of Nigeria Army, Owode-Yewa, used to burn down the ancient palace of Onihunbo of Ihunbo in 2017 in order to impose an illegal and fake monarch on the town of Ihunbo.

It would be recalled recently that some Soldiers had invaded the Ibolla community in Igbeji town,Yewa South Local Government area of Ogun State, where one person, Lukman Welder, were shot inside the Ori-Oke Imole-Tan Church, Odan-Ibolla Parish, Igbeji Town, on April 11th, 2021, where he ran for safety.

According to the Petition dated Monday 14th of February, 2022 and signed by the CHRSJ’s Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, which was forwarded to the appropriate authorities including; Inspector General of Police(IGP), Director General of State Security Service(DSSS) and host of others, calling for thorough and credible investigation into this two matters by arresting those involved in the illegal action for possible prosecution in order to serve as deterrent to others.

The copies of the Petition was made available to newsmen on Tuesday, when Comrade Adeniyi described the actions of those security agents as illegal, unconstitutional, anathema, undemocratic, aberration, nonchalant, satanic, indiscipline, abuse of power/office and crime against God and humanity.

The rights group earlier revealed that the men of 192 Battalion of Nigeria Army, Owode-Yewa, attached to joint Border Patrol had invaded the community on the order of bunkerers, smugglers and land-grabbers led by one Titus Babajide (a.k.a Oppressor – +234 7041055555).

 It was reported that the Youths and people of the Border Communities and Ibolla community inclusive have shown their great support to the Federal Government directive on the ban of contraband goods, which was not going down well with “Oppressor” and others including; Sunday- (+234 8026662601) and John Babajide (+234 8034101055).

It added that the said Soldiers entered the community by shooting sporadically and to the extent of attacking the members of the “Irepodun Co-operative Society” who were doing their monthly contributions meeting.

And no fewer than seven (7) members of the Co-operative Society were attacked and their Motorcycles (Okada) and contributions were taken away, adding that Seventy-Two Thousand Naira (N72,000) contributions collected from members meet on the table were stolen and five Okadas were also stolen, while other two Okadas were destroyed by the soldiers, adding that four of five motorcycles have been released to the owners after the intervention of the monarch in the area. 

Meanwhile, the Oba Onigbeji of Igbeji and Youths of the town, frowned at the way and manner in which the Soldiers were shooting sporadically in the area and the people were running for dear life.
