As part of its Community Impact Initiative, Church4Real – a branch of Church of God Mission located at Afisman Drive in the Anifowoshe area of Ikeja, came out in good numbers to clean up the community on Saturday.

Church4Real led by Pastor Chris Ubamadu in collaboration with Anifowoshe Community Development Association mobilised the residents and business owners in the community to clean the environment and desilt the drainages. The initiative was also supported by the Environmental Sanitation Team from Ikeja Local Government headquarters which helped in carting away refuse with the ‘Operation Clean up Ikeja’ branded tricycle.

In a chat with P.M.EXPRESS, Pastor Chris Ubamadu said it was part of their effort to give back to the community where the church is located. The church had before now given away refuse bins to residents as part of their support for a clean and healthy environment, and had also outlined plans towards empowering the youths in the area.

An executive member of the CDA and youth leader – Comrade Odunlami Dauda was very much on ground to mobilise the youths and even the elderly to be part of the exercise. He thanked the church for the gesture and said it was a welcome development, and also encouraged them to do more to affect the community positively.

Some residents who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS expressed their joy seeing the church taking the lead in the cleaning and showing genuine interest and concern about the welfare of people in their immediate environment.
