The Chairman of Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, Anambra State branch, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has made a passionate appeal to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to fortify security at various boundary towns in the state especially bridge head, Amansea, Umuchu and other boundaries in order to actualize the motive behind total shutdown which is to avoid escalation of Coronavirus pandemic.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ezekwueme noted it was despicable and detestable that in spite of measures taken by Anambra State Government to contain the spread of Coronavirus to the state, a index patient entered.

“It is unfortunate that Coronavirus index patient entered the state after the total shutdown. One pertinent question begging for answer is, how did he enter Anambra State undetected despite tight security and total shutdown?”

“Coronavirus pandemic is life threatening, so relentless and collective efforts must be made to contain its spread” he said.

The CLO Chairman pleaded with Gov. Willie Obiano to institute a committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding how the first Coronavirus positive patient entered the state despite total shutdown.

“It is of great relevance to note that Coronavirus victims are not by choice hence it is of prime importance for us to show love, care, and concern and also to pray for their quick recovery and stoppage of its escalation.”

Ezekwueme called on the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to device means to provide palliative measures to the poor to cushion the effects of pathetic and horrendous Coronavirus pandemic ravaging economic, social and spiritual life of the citizenry due to the extension of total shutdown for two weeks to check escalation saying that hunger killing the citizenry was more dreadful than the virus.

The CLO Chairman equally pleaded with Anambrarians to adhere strictly to Government’s directives because life is precious and has no alternative.

“We commend those who have contributed towards ameliorating the plights and predicaments of indigents citizenry occasioned by Coronavirus pandemic.”

“It is pertinent and imperative for others to emulate them because the essence of human person is giving and sharing not in having, receiving and getting” Ezekwueme posited.
