The three contestants who made it to the next week’s episode of the Nigerian Idol, Kingdom Kroseide, Francis tela, and Akunna Okey, performed wonderfully on Sunday with commendations from the guest judge, Cobhams Asuquo, the Nigerian artiste, songwriter, and producer.

The contestants thrilled Cobhams, and other judges, Seyi Shay, DJ Sose, and Obi Asika as they performed with stunning talents on stage.

But it was also a sad moment for Comfort Alalade who was evicted from the show as it turns out that she had the lowest votes.

The evening was even more exciting when Cobhams entertained with his song “We Plenti”, which ushered in other exhilarating experiences from the top three.

Francis performed “Pray for Me” by Darey art-Alade as his first song with Cobhams’ comments, “you have a beautiful, big organic voice, keep it up,” followed by Seyi’s remark, “incredible, you look amazing tonight, so beautiful, the voice and all,” while DJ Sose stated “you have proved to Nigerians that you have to be loved,” and jokingly the popular Nigerian-Hungarian disc jockey put forward “I like your outfit and will collect it from you after the show.”

Akunna took to the stage with Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” in her first song performance.

The guest judge praised her saying “I love your voice and I see how your votes brought you here. I like your version of the song and it has made you perform well.”

These praises were followed by Asika’s sweet words “that was a great performance, we are proud of you, good luck,” while DJ Sose remarked “Yemi Alade would be proud of you for doing his song marvelously,” and Seyi hailed her saying “You sang great, look great.”

It was also a moment of an electrifying gig when Kingdom did Timi Dakalo’s “Iyawo Mi” and it took the attention of Cobhams, who said “You got my attention with the song, you were perfect with what you sang, it was incredible,” while Seyi enthused “You changed the song completely, you killed it.”

DJ Sose said “Timi has a unique sound, and l thought you won’t do it right, but you proved me wrong, you added a new style to it,” while Asika praised him saying “that was a special performance and your stage presence was incredible.”

The show continued to the next round where the three contestants performed their second songs which were as well captivating, with Kingdom’s “How deep is your love” by Bee Gees, Francis’ “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston, and Rihanna’s “Only girl in the world,” sang by Akunna.

All performances mesmerized the judges who sang along with them, gesticulating, as signs of admiration for the wonderful talents displayed by the singers, as they tried to outwit the other in the show which will see the winner clinching a recording contract with a leading record label and N50 million worth of prizes.

Proudly sponsored by Rite Foods’ Bigi soft drinks, Nigerian Idol is aired on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 29.
