Commander Onyeocha Honoured As Orashi National Congress Visits OSPAC

Posted on June 14, 2025

The Orashi National Congress (ONC), led by its President General, Senior Comrade Ambassador Emeni Ibe, paid a courtesy and solidarity visit yesterday to Commander Emeka Onyeocha, the General Commander of OSPAC (Organized Security Planning & Advisory Committee), at the OSPAC headquarters in Omoku, Rivers State.

The visit was in recognition of his outstanding leadership in fostering peace and security in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, the wider Orashi Region, and Rivers State as a whole.

During the visit, Ambassador Emeni Ibe commended Commander Onyeocha for his unwavering commitment to combating insecurity, cultism, youth restiveness, pipeline vandalism, and other crimes in the region.

“We thank you for providing effective security since your assumption of office. We can say without any doubt that you are working seriously well, and we are here to assure you of our total cooperation and support,” Ibe stated while presenting an *Award of Excellence* to the OSPAC commander.

He further emphasized that the Orashi National Congress stands firmly behind OSPAC in its mission and called for continued partnership to promote peaceful coexistence and industrial development in the Orashi region.

Commander Emeka Onyeocha, while responding to the honour, expressed gratitude for the recognition but used the opportunity to raise critical concerns regarding the neglect of OSPAC by both government authorities and multinational companies operating within the region.

“Despite our sacrifices and the risks we take daily to ensure peace and order, OSPAC has continued to face serious neglect from both the government and multinationals operating in the Orashi region. We lack adequate logistical support, welfare, and operational funding, which hampers our ability to function optimally,” he said.

The Orashi National Congress echoed the Commander’s concerns, making a strong call to action for all stakeholders.

“We demand that the federal, state, and local governments, as well as multinationals in the region, immediately begin to take the welfare of OSPAC seriously. The organization deserves better funding, support, and recognition in order to effectively discharge its security duties,” the President General declared.

Adding to the discussion, Mr. Eberechukwu Onyiri, a prominent member of the Congress, alleged that past crises in the region were politically motivated to derail development efforts.

“If not for the deliberate crises, the Communities from Omoku to Ahoada would have experienced unimaginable transformation by now. These setbacks are intentional to frustrate the progress of the Orashi region,” Onyiri claimed.

The Congress issued a stern warning that if no tangible response is given to their demands, they may be left with no choice but to embark on a peaceful but physical protest to press home their demands.

“We have exhausted the civil approaches. If our calls continue to fall on deaf ears, the Orashi National Congress will not hesitate to mobilize the people for a physical protest. We must defend our land, our peace, and those who risk their lives to secure it,” Ibe concluded.

The event was marked by solidarity chants, cultural performances, and expressions of unity among stakeholders present. As the region continues to battle infrastructural and security challenges, this visit signals a growing demand for tangible support and accountability from those benefiting from the region’s resources.
