COMPASS Exco Meets CPS Akosile, Reiterates Support For Sanwo-Olu’s Govt

The Executive Members, Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS), paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, in his office at Alausa, Ikeja, on Friday 13th September, 2019.

The President of the association, Tayo Aderinola, while making his remark, revealed that the essence of the visit was to fraternize with the office of the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, from where the association will be able to contribute immensely to the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu where and when necessary.

“We are here on official capacity to give our supports to the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu by creating cordial relationship with the hope that he will reciprocate with a good gesture.”

“Creating a symbiosm relationship will no doubt be beneficial to both parties as this will bring about good service delivery from government to the people and the feedback from the people to government, thereby standing as the intermediary between them” Mr. Aderinola said.

Meanwhile, in his response, the CPS, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, thanked the COMPASS executives for paying him a visit while he pledging to make community media one of his top priorities so as to ensure information about the working and functions of government get to the people at the grassroots.

“Working with COMPASS is a strategic way of reaching the people at the grassroots if I want them to know what Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is doing.”

“Until we go into community journalism, we’ll not communicate with the grassroots adequately and fortunately, they have online presence and offline platforms with a focused specifically on grassroots”.

He added, “Community media is like Police and any government of a state or country that fails to align with the Police is playing with fire when talking about community and crime. So, community media is very important as far as this government is concerned” he stated

As a mark of honour to congratulate the media icon on his new appointment, a gigantic specially designed handmade card was presented to him while he thanked COMPASS for the good gesture.

The courtesy team, which was led by Tayo Aderinola (President), had Tony Okpe (Vice-President), Sheriff Owolabi Bada (Secretary-General) and
Kayode Odujirin (Auditor).

Others included Wale Ogunniran (Asst.Secretary), Jennifer Nwosu (Welfare Officer) and Mrs. Abimbola James.
